Why We Built CollegeNovo
Like many soccer parents, I watched my rising junior son navigate the college soccer recruiting maze with growing frustration.
Despite his talent and dedication, the process felt overwhelming and scattered.
We’d spend hours researching college programs, tracking NCAA eligibility requirements, and trying to understand when to attend ID camps—all while managing highlight videos and coach communications.
It was a lot.
What struck me most was the early success we saw when we finally got organized. Once the process was understood, effort followed. Colleges started responding, but only after we’d wasted months spinning our wheels without a clear system.
We Weren’t Alone in the Struggle
Talking to other families at games and showcases revealed the same story everywhere.
Parents were lost, confused, and often making expensive mistakes in the college soccer recruiting process.
Some were paying thousands for consulting services that promised shortcuts but delivered generic advice. Things you can do for FREE!
The frustration was universal: “Where do we even start? Which ID camps matter? How do we create compelling highlight videos? What are the real NCAA eligibility deadlines?”
The Inspiration: Helping My Son, Helping Others
My initial goal was simple—help my son achieve his dream of playing college soccer.
But as we developed systems and a platform that worked, I realized we could help thousands of families avoid the same pitfalls we’d experienced.
Unlike other platforms that exist primarily to upsell expensive consulting services, we built CollegeNovo with a different philosophy.
We don’t consult, but we’re happy to answer questions for free. Our mission is helping out members make college recruiting easier.
Betting on American Soccer’s Future
We’re incredibly optimistic about where soccer is heading in America. The talent pool is deeper than ever (with leagues like MLS NEXT, ECNL, Girls Academy, etc.), and we want to see more American players filling college rosters instead of programs recruiting heavily overseas—especially on the men’s side.
Every American player who successfully navigates college soccer recruiting strengthens the entire ecosystem. College programs get better, youth development improves, and more families see soccer as a viable pathway to higher education.
Creating the Central Hub Soccer Families Needed
The biggest gap we identified was the lack of a central platform designed specifically for soccer players and families.
General recruiting sites tried to serve all sports, diluting their soccer-specific expertise. Expensive consultants hoarded information behind paywalls.
CollegeNovo fills that void—a dedicated resource where soccer families can access practical guidance, track their progress, and connect with the right opportunities at the right time.
Just the Beginning
This platform represents our starting point, not our destination. We’re continuously adding features, resources, and insights based on what families actually need during their college soccer recruiting journey.
Every feature we build, every article we publish, and every tool we create stems from real experiences—both successes and failures—in the recruiting trenches.
Your family’s college soccer dreams matter. We built CollegeNovo to make sure information barriers don’t stand in your way.
